SENTINEL BLUETOOTH-ENABLED RFID READERS
MULTI-FREQUENCY/MULTI-PROTOCOL
125 kHz to 5800 MHz

Sentinel RFID readers are typically integrated with standard serial communication interfaces, such as RS-232, to connect the reader to a host computer. However, the limitations of serial communication cables mean readers must be located within 12 feet of the computer. Using Bluetooth, a new wireless communication standard, Sentinel can convert an existing reader into a Bluetooth-enabled RFID reader, thus eliminating the serial cable and allowing the reader to be placed hundreds of feet from the host. All this is done transparently to the host and the reader; neither device knows the serial cable has been replaced by a Bluetooth wireless link.

Current RFID System

As seen above, current RFID systems can be restrictive in that the end user must be physically in front of the data terminal to view the RFID data that is being collected. To address this, Sentinel has developed an RFID reader system that provides the end user with much more flexibility. As the figure below shows, we can automatically upload the RFID data being collected by a reader to a web server. From here, we can build a Web-based front end that allows end users all over the world to access the data via the Internet.

A More Robust RFID System

For more details on how Sentinel can help you save time and money by employing Bluetooth as well as Web-based data viewing, please use our application development data input sheet to provide us with your requirements. We will use this information to generate a quote for your custom application.
