This software is supplied to you with the Sentinel product, system solution and/or service which you have purchased. Sentinel hereby grants you a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive license to use the software subject to the following terms and conditions.

The software licensed hereunder and the accompanying written materials are the subject of copyright. Unauthorized copying of the software or of the written materials is expressly forbidden. You may be held legally responsible for any copyright infringement which is caused or encouraged by your failure to abide by the terms of this license.

Subject to the restrictions above, you may copy the software for use with and configuration of Sentinel products, End-systems only.

You may sublicense the rights granted to you under this license, but only to the purchaser of the Sentinel end-product/systems which you have configured using the software licensed hereunder, and provided that the purchaser accepts the terms of this license.

You may not reverse compile or reverse engineer the software licensed hereunder, except as allowed in accordance with national, state or local legislation, and then only to the extent necessary to achieve interoperability of an independently created program with other programs. You are specifically prohibited from copying, adapting, reverse compiling or reverse engineering for the purposes of error correction without the prior approval of Sentinel.

The software licensed hereunder is supplied on an AS-IS basis, AND NO WARRANTIES ARE EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WITH RESPECT TO SUCH SOFTA\WARE, INCLUIDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. In no event shall sentinel be responsible for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or similar damages or loss of use or data or profits, unless such damage is caused intentionally or by gross negligence or the licensee was to be protected against such damage by an assured characteristic of the software.

The license is effective until terminated. You may terminate it at any time by destroying the licensed software. It will also terminate if you fail to comply with any terms or conditions of this Agreement. You agree upon such termination to destroy the licensed software.

If any provisions of this license is found to be unlawful, void or unenforceable, then that provision shall be severed from this license, and the remainder of this license will continue in full force and effect.

You agree to comply with all applicable export control laws and obtain the required license before exporting the software, or any direct product or system or service of the software licensed hereunder.

You agree that his license shall be governed by the laws of Texas for actions in contract, tort, or otherwise arising out of this license agreement. The courts of Texas shall have exclusive jurisdiction in such matters.

Sentinel and our OEMs reserve the right to make changes to or to discontinue any product or service identified in this publication without notice. Sentinel advises its customers to obtain the latest version of the relevant information to verify, before placing orders, that the information being supplied is current.

Sentinel/OEM warrant performance of their respective products to its current specifications in accordance with their standard warranty. Testing and other quality control techniques are utilized to the extent deemed necessary, specific testing of all parameters of each device is not necessarily performed.

FCC/PTT Regulations

The Sentinel/OEM RF Modules generate RF emissions at its operating frequency. The radiation of the fundamental and the harmonics will vary with the type of the antenna and other devices or functions connected to the RF module. Prior to operating the RF module with antenna(s), power supply and a control module or other devices, the required FCC or PTT approvals must be obtained. Sale, lease or operation in other countries may be subject to prior approval by the government or other organizations.

Important Note to Purchasers/Users of Sentinel/OEM RF Products

The Sentinel/OEM products are considered by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to be a “sub-assembly.” As such, no prior approval is required to import, sell, or otherwise market the RF module in the U.S. In order to form a functioning radio frequency device, the RF module must be connected to a suitable antenna, power supply, and control circuitry. A radio frequency device MAY NOT be operated unless authorized by the FCC nor may a radio frequency device be marketed (i.e. sold, leased, imported, or advertised for sale or lease) without prior grant of an FCC equipment authorization.

FCC authorization to operate an RF device may take one of two forms: first, the FCC may grant the user an experimental license; second, the FCC may issue an equipment authorization permitting use of the RF device on an unlicensed basis. Sentinel/OEM can assist the user in obtaining an experimental license that will cover a specific installation of the RF module in a specific site(s). Experimental authorizations are appropriate to cover operations during the development of an RF device. A grant of equipment authorization (known as “certification”) must be obtained from the FCC before RF devices are marketed or operated on a non-development basis.

An equipment authorization has already been issued for use of the RF module and other RFID equipment (including antennas) in certain configurations. This authorization does NOT cover all possible combinations and, in particular, covers only specific antenna configurations. Should a user desire to use the RF module in configuration not yet approved, Sentinel/TI can assist that customer in obtaining the necessary equipment approval.

WARNINGS

High voltages across the antenna terminals, at the tuning coil and some parts of the circuit board and system could be harmful to your health. If the antenna insulation is damaged the antenna should not be connected to the reader. This product might be subject to damage by Electrostatic Discharge (ESD); it should only be handled by ESD protected personnel at ESD secured workplaces.
